Kristie Wallace, owner of the Well Lab

My Vision

Hi I’m Kristie Wallace, owner and visionary of The Well Lab. I have a long history of making bodies sweat and helping people regain ease doing functional activities. I bring 18 years of experience in the physical therapy and personal training realm and continue to advance my knowledge daily, I’m a lifetime student. Building long term relationships while watching humans make progress in ALL areas of their lives gives me purpose.

I’ve done many types of strength and cardiovascular training for the past 3 decades with varying results. My aging body has recognized the VAST need for less volume and better recovery which led me to discovering the ARX and infrared sauna. I consider myself a biohacker, I love curating knowledge to educate others. I didn’t invent the wheel, I’ve learned from mentors and self discovery, many hacks which help to navigate this crazy life while feeling energetic and strong. My vision for The Well Lab is a space where the busy professional can get there fitness on in less than half the time of traditional fitness programs. This space also offers ways to recover and reduce stress with a genuine empathetic focus on the committed clients needs. Through thoughtful evaluations we will progress toward client goals with one on one sessions with a certified trainer. Whether it’s getting up from the floor easier or creating a leaner figure to look great in those jeans, we’re doing what’s most efficient and effective, minus the grueling workouts several days a week. This may include specific strengthening in a particular area, mobility with some hands on stretching as well as guidelines around sleep, brain health and so much more, it all happens here. A Healthier human is a happier human and it’s contagious…help me spread it.

I’m a certified personal trainer with over 10 years of experience helping people feel stronger, build muscle, and live healthier, more active lives. I believe movement is medicine—because fitness isn’t just about appearance, it’s about strength, confidence, and creating the energy to enjoy life fully. My mission is to help others build lasting strength and longevity through smart, sustainable, and functional training that supports real-life movement. I focus on proper form and technique to help clients lift safely, move efficiently, and build the strength they need to do the things they love—and to stay strong and capable for life.

Outside the gym, I live what I teach. I love mountain biking, working out, traveling, and finding new adventures wherever I go. For me, staying active is a way to stay strong, grounded, and full of life every single day.

Matt Schmitt Trainer and Nutrition Coach at The Well Lab in Vero Beach Florida

Matt Schmitt

I am a Certified Personal Trainer through ACSM and a Precision Nutrition–certified coach, with a former career as an automotive technician. Thirty years in a physically demanding trade showed me exactly how accumulated strain, long hours, and repetitive positions can wear a body down. By my forties, my back and knees were so uncomfortable that even simple daily movements felt harder than they should.

Everything shifted when I began strength training. Building real, functional muscle gave my body the support it had been missing — and the relief was long-term, not temporary. That experience changed the way I approached my own health, and it’s the foundation of how I coach today.

I connect strongly with adults over 40 who want to move better, feel stronger, and live with less pain and more confidence. I know what it’s like to feel limited by your own body, and I know how empowering it is when strength gives you that freedom back.

I’m a New Jersey native who recently made Florida home, and I’m soaking up every bit of sunshine, coastline, and wildlife this place offers. When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me at the beach with my girlfriend, bird-watching at the Stick Marsh, or enjoying a good cappuccino while flexing my creative writing muscles.

My coaching style is grounded, patient, and thoughtful — I meet people where they are and help them move forward at a pace that feels right. For me, training isn’t about chasing aesthetics. It’s about reclaiming health, ability, and a life that simply feels better.

“I have been training at The Well Lab for about 1.5 years. I cannot say enough good things about it. The environment is intimate, warm and welcoming. Both Kim and Kristie are excellent trainers and truly listen to you. They craft an individualized training program specific to your goals and your body’s needs. The progress I have made in my strength and mobility is amazing and keeps me coming back.”

Jennifer Forbes

“I am really grateful to Kim at The Well Lab for helping me to negotiate working out in a safe, supportive environment after an injury. Kim is an incredible listener. She works with you to help you achieve your goals and you can have fun at the same time.”

Tobi Stewart

“I began seeing Ruth for massage as part of preparing for my upcoming hip replacement surgery. I so appreciate the collaborative care that she and Kristie provide. Ruth is a healer and has an intuitive sense about what is most helpful for my hip and back right now. She is a skilled massage therapist and I appreciate her quiet, peaceful energy. I am deeply grateful to everyone at the Well Lab!”

Sarah Davis

“I’ve been going to the Well Lab for about a year. Both Kristie and Kim are both great coaches. They have different areas of concentration – Kristie does more physical therapy and working through challenges. Kim also does some of that, but mainly focuses on customers who just want to learn a safe way to work out without injury and considering age and ability. Highly recommend the Well Lab.”

Cindy Johnson

“Fabulous! Great ambiance and intimate location for training. Kim has done a wonderful job as our personal trainer and has exhibited significant knowledge and patience with my wife and I. She has truly provided us with the strength and confidence to help us prepare for our 80’s. We love the sauna after each workout as well. We started last Spring, worked with her during this Winter and will return next Fall. Excellent!”
